My First Flight As A Pilot

My First Flight As A Pilot

Today, the day after my practical test, I took my first passenger flying with me. What a weird feeling. Not scary or intimidating, just weird. Until now through training, I’ve either flow alone (solo) or with my instructor. Again, not scary or anything that bothered me, just strange. Being in a plane that I’ve flown multiple times, over areas I’ve been to multiple times, with someone who has never flown in a small plane in their life. In fact, this was my passenger’s second flight he’s ever had in his life. The one before today was when he was a child and it was on a commercial airliner. As strange as the feeling was, it was so exhilarating for me. The fact I get to share the passion and excitement with someone else. I got to “show off” my skills and all of the things I’ve been working on for the past 8 months. Of course my passenger didn’t know any different. He doesn’t know climb speeds, approach speeds, good or bad landings, none of that. I did though, and I nailed them all perfectly. He enjoyed the flight tremendously and talked about it the entire flight and car ride home. THAT is what made me feel amazing. It was truly a win-win of seeing my passenger experience so much enjoyment as well as myself, piloting the flight on a perfect weather afternoon.
